Description
Discharge Base from Amex is a two part ink, that includes the base and the powder. It’s a superb clear base and when the Amex colour Pigments are added it provides you with vibrant colours onto dark Fabrics.
The discharge process is where water based inks are printed to dark coloured garments (Garments must be 100% cotton) to produce bright and soft prints with little handle. Discharge inks are printed the same as other screen printing inks, then fully cured at 165°C. During the curing of the ink, the original dyes in the garment are being “discharged” from the image area, then they are replaced with the colour of the discharge ink.
Please note that the correct amount of activator is supplied with the product.
The activator amount must be 6% and no more than 10% of the base weight e.g. If you have 100g of base, you can add 6g of activator. Shelf life of 8 hrs once mixed.
For Garment choice please see Gildan’s information regarding printing Discharge ink onto their T-Shirts by clicking the following link Gildan Discharge Chart.

Additives
Clean up
Please use Water or Franmar Aquawash or Multipurpose Ink Remover. Easisolv 701 is useful to clean up and remove stains.
Curing
Water Based Inks are cured at 165°C ideally for 2-3 minutes. Printed garments need to be passed through a quality dryer and the ink film needs to reach the desired temperature and maintained for a fixed time, variables such as garment thickness and colour, ink deposit and operating climate will need to be taken into account when setting your oven parameters. Always wash test production to ensure prints are adequately cured. It is also possible to use a heat press to cure this ink
With the polymerization this particular discharge base may develop formaldehyde. For this reason, we recommend to wash the garments before wearing.
